Matt is an American from Kansas, living in the Tulsa area.
Taew (Khanittha) is from Thailand who came to the US to learn English.
We met November of 2018 and in May of 2019, we decided to get married. Basically, we eloped.
Next, the hard part.
Taew came to the US under an F-1 student visa. Once married, we needed to get her permanent residency card (Green Card).
The US government requires multiple forms, the main one being the USCIS I-485 Adjustment of Status Application, that all need to be filed at the same time.
We needed to gather up photos of us together, a copy of our marriage license, and proof that we had joint accounts together. Taew needed to update her shot records (she did hot have any proof of vaccination from Thailand) and needed to get a physical. After getting everything together and writing a check for the processing fees, we combined everything into a 3-ring binder and mailed it off to Chicago.
We waited a month and some before we heard back. We traveled to OKC to get her picture taken and fingerprints processed. Then we waited some more.
Then we had an interview date.
November 14th, 2019, we traveled back to USCIS in OKC and had a short interview with a USCIS officer.
The initial process was done. Taew was granted her permanent residency in the US.
It has been 2 years since we were married and it’s coming up on her 2 year anniversary of getting her residency. The process started again and we are waiting on our second interview to get Taew her 10 year residency card.
